Brands as identity

From Megan McMurray

To watch: begin at 2mins-4:30mins

I chose this video because we are learning about different components of brands. Brands are identity enhancers; they feed the ego and when we see commercials or ads for clothing brands like uggs, nike, or 7 jeans we are being sold an identity rather than a product. Just like we discussed in class, would you buy the Jordan shoes if they didn’t have the Jordan symbol? There are people who buy nike gear or 7 jeans because they fit well or they like the style. But that is not always the case. A few group of people are seen wearing a particular brand; that brand spreads and becomes the fashionable, “cool” thing to wear. I think this feeds the ego and defines a part of who we are and what we identity with.
