All Thai-d Up

Since we’ve been discussing advertising creative strategy approaches in class, I felt this commercial was a good example of “resonance”. This commercial, along with a slew of others which can be found on Youtube, are a series of Thai commercials selling life insurance. All though the images and feelings these adds evoke are not “positive”, they hit at our emotional core. Of course we want to save the ones we love! What better way to do so than making sure our family is safe and insured? Am I completely off the mark here or is this commercial effective? Do you think these adds are pushing the envelope on being tasteless? What if they were shown in the United States? Opinions, please!
