I found this article, “Ad Networks, Confusion Grow on the Web” by Emily Steel, to be interesting because it discusses an important trend in online advertising and the growth of ad networks. With the increasing concentration of advertising on the web, these ad networks provide vital services to marketers. However, these ad networks are becoming so widespread that they are becoming less effective and less profitable, so there will likely be declines in competition as a few large networks begin to buy up these online links. With such rapid changes in technology and online consumer trends, it will be interesting to see how online advertising evolves over the next few years to reach a larger or more targeted audience.
